MINISTRIES
Children’s Ministry
Our ministry to children takes many different forms at Immanuel. Our Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs are Bible based programs for the children of our church and community. They are open to children ages 4 through grade 6. The Confirmation program uses the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism to prepare students in grades 5 through 8 for church membership.
Day School Ministry
The Christian Day school program is also a ministry to the children of Immanuel Church, other community churches, and children of the community. The mission of Immanuel Lutheran School is to provide students with an exceptional fundamental educational taught in light of God’s Word. ( See the Immanuel School website for more information.)
Senior Ministry
The seniors ministry at Immanuel serves our senior population through The 55+ Club. This is a group of senior members which meets monthly for Bible study, special programs, and social events. Immanuel also provides a weekly worship program entitled “Worship for Shut-Ins” in several area senior apartments and care centers in the city. The program is also available to members who are home-bound.
Social Ministry
This ministry is a Christian care ministry to assist individuals and families of our congregation and the community with basic needs. To carry out this service, the congregation approved the formation of a Social Ministry Committee to work together in arranging and providing help where it is needed.
Women’s Ministry
The women’s ministry at Immanuel is known as L.W.M.L. which is short for Lutheran Women’s Mission League. This local group is in association with the much larger national organization of the same name. Immanuel’s evening LWML meets five times a year (January, March, May, September, and November). Meetings are always on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Meetings include a program prepared by the Christian Growth Committee which may include Bible studies or outside speakers. Voluntary support of Mission projects, selected by delegates at conventions, are gathered through the use of Mite Boxes. Our local society also designates a mission project for each meeting which may include local charities and/or gathering items for particular causes such as SHELTER or COLLEGE CARE PACKAGES. All women are encouraged to come for our fellowship, education, and the opportunity to “Serve the Lord with Gladness” which is the theme of Lutheran Women in Mission.
Youth Ministry
The youth ministry program at Immanuel is viewed as one of our most important ministries in the church. This program is where the young people are prepared as the future leaders of the congregation. In our weekly program, youth are taught to work together by participating in recreation and structured activities. They grow in faith through participation in weekly studies in God’s Word. And they learn about the ministry of the church through participation on the Youth Board. Go to the youth website for more info!
